Ireland
BESTYou are English-speaking, want regulator attention rather than a queue, and your team can genuinely sit here.
AVOIDYou need a regulator that has already seen a very unusual product and will move fast on it.
MiCA authorisation
The rulebook is identical in all 27. An authorisation obtained anywhere passports everywhere, and the permission you end up holding is the same permission. So the decision is not legal — it is about how quickly a regulator moves, how much presence it expects you to build, what that costs, and how the resulting authorisation reads to your customers.

The honest version
Every jurisdiction here is a reasonable choice for somebody. None is the right answer for everybody, and an adviser who always recommends the same one is telling you about their own practice rather than your business.
BESTYou are English-speaking, want regulator attention rather than a queue, and your team can genuinely sit here.
AVOIDYou need a regulator that has already seen a very unusual product and will move fast on it.
BESTYou are institutional, adjacent to fund structures, and cost is secondary to how the permission reads.
AVOIDYou are early-stage and the cost base would be a material drag.
BESTYour model is unusual and you want a regulator that has seen something like it, at a lower cost base.
AVOIDYour customers are conservative institutions who will diligence the jurisdiction itself.
BESTYour counterparties are institutions who will look at which regulator authorised you.
AVOIDYou need speed, or your proposed management would not survive scrutiny.
BESTGermany is your primary market and the local cost is justified by revenue.
AVOIDYou have no German-speaking capability and no particular reason to be there.
What we are not telling you
There is no processing-time column here, and that is deliberate. Published timelines and real ones differ, the gap depends on how complete your application is and how unusual your model looks, and a number on a web page would get planned against. We will give you a realistic range for your specific application — with the reasoning — rather than a figure that reads well and misleads.
What you do, who your customers are, where your team can genuinely sit, and how fast you need to be live. That is normally enough to narrow five options to one, with the trade-off stated rather than hidden.
